Park Street Pasta and Wine

That feeling of having found a great pasta restaurant around your neighbourhood is so exciting! Without the long wait to get a seat, without the need to reserve a table…

I’m shocked to have only found this gem recently. Such a cosy setting at the corner of Park St and Perrins St. We were the first to arrive at 12pm on a Sunday, wait staff were welcoming and we got seated along the wall of wines.

We were served with fried sourdough with pig fat drizzled with olive oil as a complimentary appetizer. While the bread was so tasty, I had to be careful of how much pig fat I was putting on my bread!

We ordered the Roasted cauliflower, pine nut butter, muscatel vinaigrette, $16, it was so crispy on the outside with some flavouring of salt and vinaigrette. We cut them into little pieces for us to eat it more easily. The cauliflower was cooked well and texture wasn’t super soft. Bits of fried sage were there to keep it interesting.

J ordered Mezzemaniche, cape moreton scarlett prawns, bisque, zucchini, chilli, $39 – pretty much the most expensive pasta on the current menu…! But we think it’s worth it, the bisque was so delicious, flavours from the prawns were sweet, it elevated the dish. Although the menu said it has chilli, we didn’t find it chilli at all. J picked a good one. Zucchini’s were cut in small cubes, and not to mention the pasta is something I’ve never tried before. Al dente yet has a little bit of chewiness to it.

Now onto the dish that caught my eye from Zomato.com – Tagliolini al nero, cuttlefish, pippies, fennel, ‘nduja, bottarga, $29. It smelt so good and the cuttlefish were cooked perfectly, stringy with the right length to eat. I was quite content with the amount of seafood in the dish. The squid ink pasta was good with great portion. Wasn’t to the al dente that I was expecting, but was fine. I first tasted my dish before trying J’s dish, and I felt the sauces was superb! This has got more of heat than J’s dish. But after having J’s Mezzemaniche, I felt like this sauce was missing the extra kick. I think it’s because Mezzemaniche was just super delicious!

We enjoyed our time at Park Street Pasta and Wine, almost all the tables indoor were occupied by the time we finished our meal. There is outdoor dining for the sun-lovers. Service was super quick! We finished in an hour, which was just what we wanted to get on with our Sunday errands.

But there is one thing I needed to call out is that Park Street Pasta and Wine charges surcharge on weekends, which I probably omitted to see from my research 😦
