Au79

As good as gold they say… Au79 has been an instagrammable place for all our brunch lovers. It’s has a very pretty setting of indoor plants and with modern sleek grey and gold tones. The dining area is huge and had I known earlier, it would have been the perfect hens brunch!

I’ve now been at Au79 twice. I couldn’t write a review on my first visit because it wasn’t comprehensive and couldn’t try many dishes on the menu.

I expected a line, but both times I visited on a Sunday, I only waited for less than 1 minute to get seated for a table of 3-4. Staff are all very helpful and lovely. They tell us what is not available so we don’t waste our time on dishes they sold out on! I get disappointed when this happens to me.

I ordered a chai latte on my first visit and a Very Berry Smoothie on my second. Chai latte isn’t as strong as we’d prefer. But I know I’m very particular with my Chai, but I can say it’s one of the better loose leaf chai lattes. Their smoothies are all dairy free. Love that they try to cater for certain dietary requirements, hence the price of $8.50 by using coconut and almond milk. The smoothie was nice and felt healthy. I couldn’t taste much sweetness apart from the natural berries. It’s a good thing if you are health conscious!

The Prawn Linguine, $27 is delicious, I can’t fault it apart from the presentation and appearance of the dish was different seeing my friends order is from my first and second visit.

It looked like the prawn on top was missing from the 1st visit. There’s still small bite sizes of prawns tossed in the dish and flavour was perfect. Cherry tomatoes were a little bigger than the 1st visit and less garnish. I loved the pasta and would order it for myself when I visit next!

I ordered the Beef Brisket Benedict, $22. The brisket was soft but wished there was more hollandaise sauce. Hash was crispy outside and moist inside. I wanted more hash. Although the dish wasn’t dry, by the time I went onto the hash, I only had the poached eggs running for dipping. More hollandaise sauce would have been perfect for me.

On my second visit I ordered the Kale and Corn Fritters, $19. The vegetarian dish was so good and it was just right for me who usually has a big lunch! The sauce is chilli chutney and sure does have a kick for me who can’t tolerate too much spice. Each fritter was lightly battered and pops of corn still fresh for each bite. I couldn’t taste much of the kale, but does kale taste like anything? The coriander was a bit too much for me. Coriander of watercress is not my favourite herb. It doesn’t stop me from re-ordering this dish again, I think I would ask the staff to remove coriander next time.

Here’s some other dishes my friends ordered, I was fortunate to have a bite on each dish. Burger patty was tender soft. A bit hard to eat or share if you intend to as it’s stacked quite high. Lamb shoulder had delicious flavours.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience for both brunch visits. Knowing that they have a large dining area, I don’t feel bad to stay longer after my meal and have a longer catch up with my friends. It definitely gives me a relaxing Sunday afternoon. What’s better is I hardly waited for a table for both occasions.

On my second visit, I used the LIVEN app for 15% credit back, see their deal here.
