Grounds of Alexandria Cafe

The grounds is a beautiful place to visit with so much to see for the whole morning for us. Go there early at around 9:30-10am and you’ll be seated at Grounds of Alexandria Cafe in 10 minutes on a Sunday morning.

If you don’t want to wait the cafe offer take away so that you can sit around the grounds and enjoy the sunshine. I see many who would carry their take away coffee and walk around enjoying the scenery, hearing the roosters crow, seeing the pig. So many picturesque spots to get distracted. Definitely do this on a sunny day 🙂

The cafe inside is bigger than expected. They open their roasting area for guests to dine on the weekends. There’s so much to see even inside the cafe – a selection of cakes available for take away.

G ordered her skinny cap, $4 Whereas I ordered the deconstructed mocha, $7.50. A good idea on deconstructed… but I found the mocha was so-so, proportion of espresso & milk was a bit light for me. If you like a stronger mocha, suggest you put less milk. I poured everything that was given to me. Oops!

G & I shared the Sautéed Herbed mushroom and Free-Range Three Egg Omelette. I liked the nuts and seeds on the dish to add texture, but I didn’t like the greens that was half cooked. Rodri was warm and light. Great for a healthy brunch in winter. The dish was tossed with lightly sautéed button mushrooms which brought out some juice to the dish. I felt that the Rosti was the star for me over the featured mushroom.

The free-range three egg omelette looked so pretty on the plate. It’s another gluten-free dish with field mushrooms, asparagus, peas and dill crème fraîche. Peas were perfectly cooked. The omelette did not feel oily at all! Again, we co-incidently chose a healthy vegetarian dish. I enjoyed this dish more than the sautéed herbed mushroom.img_0015-7966172

Service was great – only waited for 10 minutes and we asked to sit elsewhere as we felt we were too close to the walkway and doorway, the waiters were happy to move us to our desired spot.
